Why are your doula fees different for each person?
Our doula fees are based on the doula's experience and range from $550-$900. For example, a doula who has just completed her training and is being mentored by an experienced doula has a fee of $550. A doula who has attended 15 births has a fee of $700. The doula who has attended more than 31 births will have a fee of $900. At Gentle Childbirth Services we operate as a team of over 25 years combined experience and our in-training doulas as well as our veteran doulas have a vast array of knowledge to tap into at any time of day or night.
What is the difference between an experienced doula and a new doula?
As with any profession, the longer you do it the more you learn. As a professional birth support person, an experienced doula will have witnessed and supported her clients in a variety of situations in pregnancy and birth, as well attended more advanced doula trainings.
At Gentle Childbirth Services, we have a unique and close-knit group of doula professionals who all work together. Our doulas have a combined total of over 25 years birth experience that both our new and veteran doulas alike can tap into at any time of day or night for questions or support. Our brand new doulas many times attend a birth with a more experienced doula before they ever go to a birth alone.
When it comes to deciding which doula you should hire, it should be the person you feel the most comfortable and at ease with and the one that you are drawn to and feel safe around. This will be the person you want to support you for birth.
How do I schedule an interview with a doula?
Each of our doulas have their own individual information page on this website. You will find it by hovering over the "Birth Doulas" tab. Click and read through each profile and see who you feel most drawn to. On each doula's page will be her personal email address and phone number. We recommend speaking by phone with the doulas you are most interested in and then deciding which ones to schedule an in person interview with to make your decision.
